Manage data sources

1. Use groups to represent departments, systems, or environments.
2. Choose a built-in driver or let a super administrator maintain a custom JDBC driver.
3. Enter the JDBC URL, connection properties, and credentials.
4. Test before saving.
5. Open the source in the SQL workspace for controlled operations.

Driver definitions are globally available, but only super administrators can test, create, update, or delete custom drivers. Built-in drivers remain immutable.

Export configuration

A .sdm-datasources v1 package contains only data-source groups and connections. It excludes accounts, driver artifacts, table data, transfer jobs, S3 settings, and audit records.

• Users can export their own groups and connections.
• Super administrators can export all users’ configuration.
• Passwords are excluded by default.
• Including passwords requires reauthentication and an independent 8–128 character package password.
• Credentials in JDBC URLs and sensitive connection properties are removed.

Import configuration

1. Upload the package and pass structural, checksum, and size validation.
2. Preview groups, connections, and driver mappings.
3. Map source usernames to existing target accounts for system imports; imports never create accounts.
4. Choose skip, copy, or overwrite for name conflicts.
5. Confirm and apply the import.

Overwrite preserves the target password when the package does not contain one. Imported passwords are encrypted again with the target system’s normal secret service.
